Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
2018 Was An Amazing Year
In reflection, I am so incredibly thankful for those of you reading this who supported my business this year. You have made such a difference in my life and my family’s life, and I cannot thank you enough!
God delivered so many blessings as both a photographer and a mother throughout 2018. As most know, Austin and I welcomed Evelyn into our family in August. She is seriously an angel baby!! Her big brother’s keep us very busy and half-sane, but they adore her and we couldn’t ask for much more than that. Amidst pregnancy, military life, and business running, we made time to travel to visit more of this beautiful continent. Jumping ahead to a goal I have in 2019: I do hope to document our travels via blog, filled with itineraries and accommodation suggestions, plus tips when traveling with kids, for the sake of both memories and of course for those who may want to plan their own Euro trip someday, with or without little ones.
Looking Ahead to 2019
My family is due for a move to a new location in late spring/early summer. We do not have any specifics yet (imagine that, fellow military friends!!) but we are anticipating returning to America. I will remain open for business in Germany into the new year, with a limited number of clients. I will be visiting home in Pennsylvania from January to February, and plan to close my doors here in Germany around May 15, 2019. In addition to this, I am also enrolled in a 12-month business journey with one of my favorite professional photographers, and I could not be more excited to dive further into my photography journey through this course.
Although the exact location of where my business will end up in 2019 is unknown, I could not be more overjoyed to meet more friends in the future, wherever that will be!
In Reflection
This year, I photographed a total of 40 sessions and 1 wedding! WHEW! I loved every second of every session. I am humbled beyond belief that 11 of those were repeat clients from either 2017 or earlier in 2018. You guys, I cannot tell you how this makes me feel! Thank you times a million for trusting me again and again with you and your loved ones behind my camera. You instill confidence and commitment in my heart, and I am so genuinely thankful.
Speaking of weddings, I have to elaborate on the wedding I photographed in October. That day changed my life! Most folks reading this probably do not know the reason why I even became interested in photography 5 years ago. The truth is that it was a result of my own wedding! When I received my wedding photographs and digital images back from my wedding photographer, I realized that that was a joy that I also wanted to share with others. It wasn’t until my mother-in-law gifted my husband and I a Canon T3i DSLR two months later, that I began to put that thought/dream into action. I was COMPLETELY oblivious to the fact that digital photography was growing and evolving drastically around me, and how much work, time, sacrifice, equipment, and adequate education in the field was required to be successful. I happily accepted all of that and paved my own way into the world of photography, while sorting out the first few years of marriage, a growing family, and a relocation from Colorado to Germany.
Running this business is hard work, but it almost doesn’t feel it, only because I enjoy it so much. I feel blessed to exercise my passion in a professional business setting and to have success doing so in a foreign country while raising little people!
Photographing Danielle and Alex’s wedding this October was such a milestone for me because it brought me back to my initial love and craving for wedding photography specifically. I look forward to having more such opportunities in the future, and cannot wait to further develop my technical skills and share the joy I felt on my own wedding day as a bride, and the joy while working at Danielle’s as a photographer!
Thank You
To all of the families, couples, seniors, and little ones that booked sessions with me throughout 2018: THANK YOU! I feel as though I have new friendships with you all and have loved seeing you again in and around our tiny corner of the world here in Germany!
Sincere thanks goes to my husband, Austin, for his patience, wisdom, and support in every way when it comes to being a photographer’s second eye in many, many different ways throughout the year and throughout my journey as a photographer 😘.
To my family and friends, especially those stateside, who encourage me and my goals: I love you all!
Highlights
Below are SOME highlights from my amazing clients this past year. If posted every single favorite, you would be scrolling until 2020, so I had to draw the line and only post a few favorites from each session.
Again, thank you so very much to all of YOU, and I hope to run into you all again before we move in late spring 2019. To keep up with me and special announcements, be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook!
Cheers to a blessed and healthy 2019!
Frohes Neues Jahr!
