A Sunset Engagement Session in the Foothills | Jack & Katherine

A Classic Desert Engagement Shoot

Have you ever met someone and immediately felt like you could talk to them for hours because the conversation just flowed so easily?? Well that was how my evening with Jack and Katherine felt! They are both so genuinely sweet and thoughtful. Their entire session was filled with joy and we continued to laugh throughout our entire time together! Austin and the kids joined me for the first half of this session, and oh my goodness, Jack and Katherine were so laidback for having an extra FIVE people present at their session!! Photographing their wedding next May in Pittsburg is going to be absolutely incredible!

Katherine is originally from Albuquerque, so this situation could not have worked out any more perfect than it naturally did!! Currently, Jack and Katherine are living in Pittsburg, but once they booked me as their wedding photographer, we discussed shooting their engagement session in the Sandia Mountain foothills if they were able to fly to New Mexico at some point this year. Well, they made happen and it was an absolute dream.

Since it is spring here in NM, usually the wind is out of control. Well, luckily, the evening of this session had almost no wind, and it was a perfect 76 degrees (F) outside. The light here in the desert is spectacular in the evenings, and this night was as equally as beautiful as the rest of the evenings that we have experienced here in the desert.

Getting to know Jack and Katherine through phone calls and emails, and now in person, has been such a blessing to me and it was so wonderful for them to meet my family too!! As an unexpected super sweet gesture, they brought me German  c h o c o l a t e  from  Aldi in Pittsburg before flying to NM, because they knew how much I enjoyed living in Germany! I have said this before, and I’ll say it again: I have had the best, most thoughtful clients throughout this business journey.

I am so incredible excited to photograph their wedding at Saint Paul’s Cathedral in Pittsburg, PA next May and can’t wait to see them again!!! Jack and Katherine, thank you so much for your kindness, patience, and willingness to be so adventurous in the foothills (to include hiking up a mountain at the very end!) Enjoy my favorites from your session!!!!

  • Thank you for the very artistic pictures of Katherine and Jack engagement photos. A beautiful desert spring glory. It matches the hopes of these 2 beautiful young people. A proud grandpa – Donald McKean.

    • Thank you so much Donald! They are beautiful people, inside and out! That made my job quite easy. I’m excited to photograph their wedding next spring!
