Corrales, New Mexico

This wonderful family was featured on the November issue for the ABQ Catholic Magazine, published by Dynamic Excellence Catholic Media, and I am so thrilled to share this entire session on my blog this week!
The Sikes family are parishioners at Saint Thomas Aquinas parish in Rio Rancho, and their four oldest kids are heavily involved in the youth ministry there.
For their family photography session, the location and lighting was perfect. The touch of yellow to the trees only intensified the natural beauty of the bosque in Corrales, but the folks behind the lens take the real cake for the most handsome aspect of the entire event!
itEveryone coordinated colors and outfits perfectly. I worked with Viana a few days prior to this session, just talking through my suggestions as far as choosing what the wear… and oh my goodness, she did an amazing job and coordinating and they looked so good!
I’m going to link a blog post HERE, that I wrote in regards to some of those suggestions, when planning what to wear to a photo session, because it really makes a huge difference in your photos!
Something else I want to mention about the Sikes family, is how close this family was to each other. Being from a large family myself, and missing them regularly (because they live on the other side of the country!), I always enjoy being around big families with a lot of kids!
Viana and Kevin have homeschooled all of their children and I will admit that I am in awe at how many very GOOD and kind and loving homeschool families I continue to meet, and increasingly so. Personally, I am in my second year of homeschooling my kids, and albeit we are only in first grade and pre-K, the days can feel long and it is a HUGE sacrifice!! When I am blessed with the opportunity to meet such families as this, who have homeschooled their children for years and have loved it, it gives me the courage and motivation to persevere because it’s obvious to see the beauty that comes from it!
Above and below are some of my favorite images from their session!! Thank you, Viana, for your permission to post these, and also supporting me and my business here in Rio Rancho!
