Everything about Shayla and Joe's wedding day was extremely joyful and romantic! The setting itself was incredible, and the 150 year old Catholic chapel on the property added another element to the day that made this day that much more special in which they were joined together as husband and wife before Heaven! I have a handful of personal favorite moments from this day, but honestly the entire day was a highlight of the year for me. I feel like there's a lot to be said when you leave a 12 hour wedding day with a giant smile on your face... and that was this day for both Austin and I. I am so excited to share this post and these images!!
Shayla and Joe have known each other for 14 years, ever since high school, but have only been formally together as a couple for the last two and a half! It’s pretty obvious that the love they share for one another runs deep. They are so comfortable with each other but also have a prayerful quietness about them that is extremely sweet. I quickly learned this during their Engagement session earlier this summer, which you can view HERE!
Shayla spent the first half of their special day getting ready for the wedding at her home in Albuquerque, accompanied by her mom, bridesmaids, and flower girls. I got to photograph all of her beautiful heirloom items at her home, and meet everyone before heading over to the ranch all together.
Joe got all ready with his groomsmen just 15 minutes down the road, where Austin met them to shoot some groom details and initial portraits of the guys. The family and friends that Shayla and Joe had in their bridal party make up one of the friendliest bridal parties on the face of the Earth. Everyone was so sweet and kind to Austin and I and they were so fun to be around!! Half the time, they prompted their own photos which honestly made my day and definitely made me laugh (see groomsmen with “hands in pockets” photo below)!!
Shayla and Joe decided to share a first prayer together before the ceremony, without catching a glimpse of the other! We found the perfect spot for them, and this is hands down, one of my favorite pre-wedding moments I’ve ever experienced. It was just so sweet to witness and capture!!!
I need to dedicate some words to Shayla and Joe’s parents and family. First of all, the ranch that the entire day took place at was at the Larrañaga ranch, which has been in the family for 200 years!! The chapel has been newly renovated as of two years ago, but it has served as a place of union in Holy Matrimony for generations. How beautiful is that!? The Chapel is exceptionally gorgeous and has some of the most beautiful Stations of the Cross that I have ever seen here in the U.S. Both Shayla and Joe’s parents are wonderful people, and they made our experience of the day even more memorable!!
I hope you enjoy these portraits from this beautiful wedding day!!! Shayla and Joseph, thank you SO very much for inviting us into your lives and trusting us to capture this incredibly special day for in you all!!!
We love you both and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you begin this new chapter in your lives together!!!!
Thanks for reading!!
