Jillian & Kevin | A Beautifully Grand Catholic Wedding at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, PA

This was not my first time at the stunning St. Bernard’s Church in the South Hills, just outside of Pittsburgh. Last May, my husband and I attended mass here on a Sunday morning after shooting a wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral the day before, and I was just blown away at how European and magnificent St. Bernard’s was constructed.  Jillian and Kevin were the first couple to book photography services with me for 2023 back in late 2022, and I have been excited ever since first speaking with them to get back to St. Bernards for their wedding!

There’s so much I could write about that formed the masterpiece of their wedding day, from the bridal party colors and personalities, to the adorable flowers girls and ring bearer, but most especially the ceremonial procession.  Jillian and Kevin opted for an ancient tradition within the church that dates back to the medieval ages, where the bride and groom process from the side of the altar behind the clergy to the very front of the church.  It is here that they pause, the groom lifts the bride’s veil, and he presents his bride to Christ.  This symbolizes the union between Christ (the bridegroom) and his Bride (the Church).  Jillian and Kevin’s procession was so moving and it brought many guests to tears!
