Downtown Pittsburgh Cathedral Nuptial Wedding Mass
Every moment of Jack and Katherine's wedding day was filled with genuine joy and love. We are so incredibly happy for them and this new life they're about the embark on together! They celebrated with the most beautiful wedding mass in one of the most breath-taking churches I've ever been inside, professing their love for one another before their family and friends. You could just feel God smiling down onto the Wedding Feast at hand!!
Jack and Katherine met in college in Pittsburgh just over 4 years ago. After meeting, Jack took Katherine to Mass with him, and she ended up converting to Catholicism not long after! During Covid, they would pray the Rosary together every night, alongside of their priest via zoom, Father Adam Potter, who presided over their nuptials. After watching Mass one Sunday during 2020 when churches were still closed, Jack asked Katherine to marry him. She obviously said, ‘yes’!
Almost exactly one year ago, I had first met them out in Albuquerque for their engagement session! Ironically, Katherine grew up in Albuquerque and her family still resides there, so Jack and Katherine flew out west last May for some photos in the desert. Time flies, because here we are finally in 2022 and they’re almost a full week married!!
Katherine got ready at her apartment, alongside her mother, sister, and dear friends. I was able to snag some photos of her beautiful details that she had so sweetly set up for me on a small table next to her patio door. Their colors for their wedding were very classy: white and green, with a touch of gold. From her apartment, we made our way to Saint Paul’s Cathedral, a few streets over. Before mass, she prayed the Rosary in the side Saint Joan of Arc chapel, and received visits from her father and soon-to-be mother-in-law. The prayer that was said with Katherine and her sister, Kristen, by her friend Carmen in the chapel was one of my favorite pre-wedding moments, which you can see below!
Father Adam Potter presided over their wedding, and his homily was absolutely amazing. He referenced how Jack and Katherine’s choice of readings (Ephesians 5: 21-33) and the Gospel (John 2: 1-12) were rare, but a true testament to marriage. He referenced Mary, the Mother of God, and how she continues to point us to Jesus, and how her words, “do anything he tells you”, were subordinate in nature; subordinate to Christ and his love for his Bride, the Church.
After mass, we took family formals in the church, and then ran across the street to the Mellon Institute for bridal portraits. It worked out perfectly!!! These are some of my all-time favorite images, and they’re below! Following the Mellon Institute, we made our way to Mellon Park for a few portraits, before heading to LeMont for the reception. One of my favorite moments of the reception was the Armenian dance that Jack’s family initiated to bring all the guests to the dance floor!
Jack and Katherine, you are a wonderful couple and we are so blessed that you found us to capture your special day!! I hope you enjoy this little highlight of your wedding and some of my favorite images that we captured!
